  • Responsibilities

    This full-time exempt level safety position is responsible for compliance with federal, state, and corporate Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies. Conducts onsite HSE observations, inspections, audits, and training needs assessments. Develops training materials, conducts Health and Safety training, and new hire orientation. Actions all while working in accordance with company policies, procedures, and programs.

    Technical: Means/Methods

    • Provides safety expertise to Project Team and in jobsite support.
    • Conducts, develops, and oversees all OSHA and MSHA inspections and related training.
    • Readies and provides training documentation and other materials to ensure worksites have required OSHA documentation in place. i.e. hazcom, rigging, cranes, excavations, and scaffolds.
    • Develops training materials for specific site hazards based on site visits and needs assessments.
    • Performs incident investigations.
    • Develops and assists with site specific toolbox talks, safety flashes, safe Production Review meetings, and monthly training modules.
    • Assists operations with pre-planning safety into all situations through risk assessment, job hazard analysis, identifying hazards, and putting in place controls.
    • Uses a range of risk management techniques as appropriate
    • At the project level, analyzes cost effectiveness of risk control measures. Develops and leads the implementation of risk management strategies.
    • Recognizes loss exposure to the project through utilizing HSE risk management techniques.
    • Conducts Subcontractor Safe starts and assists worksites in overseeing subcontractor safety compliance and performance.
    • Where necessary, purchases specialist safety equipment.
    • Attends Morning huddles and participates in BAR, AAR, and any other planning meetings.
    • Attends and participates in Stretch and Flex at the work sites.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    Technical: Delay Free Production/Quality

    • Provides support to the worksites in day-to-day quality control and in execution of delay free operations.
    • Actively seeks better, faster, and safe methods to perform work during all assignments.


    • Supports compliance with the Safety Program including the coordination of worksite activities to ensure compliance with all government regulatory guidelines and agencies.
    • Has responsibility with the worksite team for developing and maintaining a Home Safe Tonight safety culture.
    • Participates in promoting the Near Miss Program.

    • Assists with corporate department functions, including coordination, development, and delivery of training for employees, presentations, and new hire orientation, etc.
    • Communicates, follows and enforces Human Resources, Equipment/Small Tools, Construction Management Manual policies and other policies and procedures as applicable.


    • Bachelor’s degree in Safety or equivalent preferred
    • 0-2 years of professional Safety experience including but not limited to training, inspections, audits
    • Knowledge of OSHA and MSHA regulations
    • Valid Driver’s License

    Technical: computer systems, contract administration systems, delay free production, labor and equipment reporting, planning and scheduling, safety policies and procedures

    Physical Demands:

    Frequently requires the ability to talk and hear. Requires the ability to sit, stand, walk, use hands/fingers, reach, climb or balance, stoop, kneel or crouch. Occasionally requires the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Requires following specific types of vision: close, distance, peripheral, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.


    Travel Requirements:

    Travel and commuting requirements may vary by assignment. Work locations for assignments are subject to change.  Extensive travel/commute to and from field sites required. Overnight or longer travel may apply in certain situations.
