  • Responsibilities

    Allan Myers is seeking a full-time Claims/Insurance Manager with risk management, claims management and insurance expertise and familiarity with databases, database reporting tools, comparative performance measurement and benchmarking.

     

    • Manage and coordinate all aspects of workers’ compensation claims, include monitoring and working with the employees, broker and insurance carrier to mitigate claim losses and ensure compliance with claims handling procedures. Approve claim settlements up to assigned claims handling authority.
    • Manage and coordinate general liability and automobile liability claims by providing claim notice to the appropriate broker and insurance carrier (including summons and complaints), and working with the insurance carrier and defense counsel on claims strategy and discovery to resolve claims in a timely manner.
    • Manage and coordinate property and contractor’s equipment claims by providing claim notice to the appropriate broker and insurance carrier and work with the insurance carrier to bring these first party claims to timely resolution.
    • Establish reserves in connection with workers’ compensation, general liability and automobile liability claims by obtaining the necessary accident investigation materials from field management and safety directors and by communicating with field and safety management to analyze the exposures to the company.
    • Obtain the necessary contracts from management on liability claims and provide this information to the insurance carrier for their investigation.
    • Assist defense counsel on litigated claims by providing answers to discovery, contract information and accident investigation materials. Attendance at hearings, mediations, and trials as necessary.
    • Review and pay insurer invoices for paid losses and prepare and submit requests for reimbursement from the Sr. Vice President of Corporate Services. 
    • Manage, coordinate and calculate the allocation of claim costs to the various job sites.
    • Analyze loss information and develop and distribute claims management reports and analysis of insurance claims to senior management.
    • Assist the Safety Department in providing the necessary information to analyze loss trends and historical costs in order for the Safety Department to implement the appropriate loss control programs.
    • Complete special projects related to safety and claims management in order to measure the cost effectiveness of claims management programs.
    • Provide assistance in preparing the underwriting data necessary for property and casualty renewals including exposure basis for equipment, vehicles, property and payroll.
    • Assist managers with various project related risk management and insurance needs including wrap-up deduct calculations, coordinating special insurance quotations and certificate of insurance requests.
    • Pursue subrogation efforts to prevent financial leakage on damages and lost revenue from Third parties causing loss to Allan Myers property. 

     

    Qualifications

    BS Degree or equivalent in Risk Management, Insurance, Business or Finance and 5 plus years claims management experience. Professional insurance/claims designations preferred (ARM, AIC).

     


    Required Skills: 


    1. Knowledge of workers’ compensation, liability, property, and auto claims, insurance processes, laws, forms and terminology. Knowledge of PA, VA, MD and DE Workers’ Compensation and Liability State laws a plus.
    2. Knowledge of risk management information systems and relational databases.
    3. Excellent presentation, interpersonal and written communication skills. Ability to effectively communicate at all organizational levels.
    4. Strong computer skills using Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, Lotus Notes a plus.
    5. Strong problem solving, analysis and decision-making skills.
    6. Strong organizational and administration skills.
    7. Exceptional customer relations skills.
    8. Desire to work independently in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
    9. Construction claims and safety experience a plus.
